Hello everybody, first of all I would like to welcome you to my Art Site from yours truly Monica Smiles Tobon. Looking back to all movements here in the city of Los Angeles. I have found myself working with a wide range of artists, educators, organizations and among the most important; friends in this exquisite Art Scene.  I am truly blessed to be surrounded by such inspiring and hard-working individuals and I always find myself writing about them, or helping them write and edit their projects, or anything else where my passion for writing can be useful for.

It all began with reaching out to these amazing individuals and asked permission to write about them and research them in an academic setting and ever since I have been welcomed with an open heart and mind to document and share their experiences as artists, as well as their involvement in their community and cultures. Therefore creating this blog is important and special to me because it is an  opportunity to grow more as an Art Historian, friend and writer for my community and fellow artists.  I think it is important to educate the public with the most accurate information in regards to topics and issues that artists are faced with today as well the history of previous art movements. But most importantly; to rewrite the history of our Arte.

Managing, promoting and ensuring the success of Women Artists in both the commercial and scholarly world. Prepare Professional Artistic Portfolios, partaking the duties as an Art Historian and Biographer.
I enjoy working and networking with a wide variety of people and as I respect everybody ‘s points of views; but my main focus is to empower and provide resources to upcoming women artists.
I love Art and everything that involves art; it liberates and empowers me in many ways that any scholar degree, politics or words can describe.

This blog is designed to give you a new perspective towards viewing, analyzing and writing about art in the most accurate way. I truly enjoy writing about art, artists, and especially assist my fellow artists in creating an informative yet passionate biography of their lives and works.

Smiles influence in the art world started at an early age. While traveling between the states of Mexico and the U.S.A it was then that from an early age, an admiration for Pre-Columbian art evolved. Began as a child to write short stories and painting in Abstract-Expressionism style with strong influences of Pre Columbian Art but as her knowledge for the history of Art movements matured thanks to the guidance of Professor Agarahi during the beginning of pursuing an education at Antelope Valley College; she realized that studying the history of Art was her true destiny. Smiles love and passion for Modern and Contemporary Art movements have defined her research and critic in Art history theory. Her love for Art does not stop there; as her involvement in the Graffiti Art Movement has evolved; she has been one of the first art historians to create timelines and collect art historical data for Graffiti Crews in Los Angeles, California and now worldwide. Her mission is to assist Graffiti Artists write their own history in the most accurate way as well as to keep on empowering and provide resources to upcoming women artists.
