Official Press Release:

“Two Well-Known LA Graffiti Artisits Collaborate In An Unexpected Synthesis”

CACHE and AISEborn (ArtIsSelfExpression) have painted murals all over the city. Although the two differ more than stylistically, their collaboration reveals a commonality that goes beyond the human barriers and into the realms of spirit.

OPENING RECEPTION: Saturday, December 9, 2017 6pm – 10pm

The artists known as Cache and AiseBorn will show a series of collaborative works in a show aptly titled, Synthesis. Cache’s playful and colorful chicken murals can be spotted on nearly every street corner around the city, while AiseBorn’s massive and impressive mandalas reside in the streets as well as museums.

At first glance, no one would guess two artists would find a common ground artistically. Cache’s cartoon-like characters come in bright, geometric, playful forms, while AiseBorn works with intricate brush strokes and realistic imagery. It was an unexpected yet organically natural union when these two found themselves sharing a mural space after an introduction by their mutual friend, another well-known graffiti artist, Atlas.
“When we come together, we influence each other in unexpected ways. AiseBorn’s work pushes me to flex my other styles; playing with futuristic linear forms and light and shadows.”, says Cache

The show will take place at TONALLI STUDIO in East Los Angeles or “Old Town Maravilla”, a gallery space owned and operated by long time residents and artists, Ofelia Esparza and her daughter Rosanna Esparza Ahrens. Cache and AiseBorn were drawn to the space because of its focus on wellness and community. For the first time, the two artist collaborative works will come together in a new formation on gallery walls. Synthesis will be on exhibit until January 6, 2018.

On Saturday, November 11, 2017 between 12am-7am. Our brother Eric Serch Ginsburg passed away in his sleep. As many of us knew he was epileptic since childhood; it is probable he had a massive seizure during his sleep.-UTI Crew. I pray his exit was painless and he is resting now for he was taken away too soon, leaving behind his son, brother, mother and the entire Los Angeles Graffiti Movement, his crews and hundreds of friends and fans of Serch All City King! It is difficult to sit here and write about a great friend, a genuine person that always found a way to make you crack up; even in the most unexpected places and moments, you had to have a special kind of humor to be able to hang with Serch. He was blunt, straight to the point, our boy had no filter but yet respectful, always kind to our children and families; he was loved and welcomed everywhere! Never too busy to hit your books, hook you up with his King Slaps; or bust a flow right on sight. It is hard to find OG’s keeping it 100% 24/7. This harsh reality has placed a financial necessity on his family and close friends, with the deepest sincerity I ask of you to please assist monetarily or any other way on this time of need.

Recap of the Cannabis Show @ Infinity Room!

On January 28th, Paul Stewart and Over the Edge Gallery kicked off the year with the Cannabis Art Show which was located at the infamous Infinity Room in conjunction with Delicious Pizza located at 5413 West Adams Blvd. Los Angeles Califas.

Paul Stewart  partnered up with major Cannabis companies in the industry to bring to the public a massive line up of artists, Graffiti artists and special DJ appearances.  Along this collaboration show featured a heavy hitter artist line up with OG Slick, Michael Miller, Eric “Cre8” Walker, Keo, Lauralee Benjamin, Petal, Jennifer Korsen, Mr. Trixter, Sanecorner, Somehoodlum, Adria Cruel, Xistheweapon, Style One, WizRok, Gas, Sebastien Walker, The MadTwiinz, Phever, Bihno, Antonio and Isaac Pelayo.

This was an excited event for me as it was my first time working along with OG Paul Stewart, coming up with a fresh Cannabis theme along the beautiful and talented Tasha Nguyen who was in charge of all the DOPE vendors. If you attended this event then you all agree with me that the dopest part of the event was walking thru the back of the Infinity Room to the spot of vendors such as TGD, PotRocks, Legion of Bloom, Stonedgamers which was a popular hit with the public that night! It was a surreal experience to see all the Cannabis themed vendors, pastries, drinks, video games, bong hits, and dope vinyl records while listening to fresh DJ’s throughout the night; the final thought: Oh shit, this is really happening in Cali, Smoke Up!

Big Ups to our Fresh Los Angeles Hip Hop Heads, Cannabis Vendors, Artists, the Sponsors PBR, photographer E5D Zine for some of these great moments captured. Shout out to my fam from Cholos Try, Scar and Irene, thank you guys for always coming thru to show love and support. Here’s to more nights Up in Smoke, Tunes, Arte and Good People. Waddup Sista HailStorm, Petal, Gas, Wizrok, OG Cre8, Lea, My Mija Tatyana Ali,Korsen who stole the space in the Infinity Room with her massive Cannabis Art Piece which was used throughout the night as a backdrop. Just to show you that when creative genuine people get together, unforgettable events like this happen.

Women’s History Month- Lilia Ramirez-Liliflor

LILIAAs we conclude Women’s Herstory Month, I continue to get inspired and appreciate more than ever the women in my life. The hard work and dedication these artists give to the Arts community in our beautiful city of Los Angeles must be recognized. Que Viva La Mujer!

A skilled artist will make you enjoy their art; its aesthetics, its presence but a true artist will make you feel more than; you feel a connection with their ancestry, their culture and every sentiment that was processed while creating a masterpiece. This is exactly what Lilia Ramirez “Liliflor” represents to the Arts and Mujeres in Los Angeles, California.

Lilifor has been involved in the Arts community since the early 1990’s. Her influence in the Mexican American culture, Xicana culture and most importantly as a Mujer has made a strong positive impact in our communities. She uses art not only as a form of expression but also gives the spectator a unique experience in every subject matter she delivers. You can feel her paintings; it is incredible to have that ability to heal the spectators by simply looking at your art. Liliflor has been in numerous art exhibits, performances and activism for over 20 years. Liliflor is the definition of creativity and using it to its full potential.

She is also an art educator for the youth by utilizing the art form as a healing process. Co-founder of the Peace and Justice Center (PJC). Liliflor leads by example and her hard work has earned the respect and appreciation for her dedication to support and commit to the youth for over two decades now. Liliflor is also the co-founder of Liliflor Collective Studios; and she has also been involved with the Mujeres de Maiz as a Director of Annual Exhibitions. And she continues to contribute to the Arts; the list can go on with all the amazing projects she has been involved in and up to this date she continues to inspire us all! You will always find her at art events, where poetry is heard and where justice for the arts and latino communities needs to be served. We are very lucky to have her representing us in the arts as a healer of our conciusness as well as an advocate for our youth.

It is so inspiring to know a woman of this status; she lives for Art, justice, beauty, healing and education. But most importantly, the role she plays in the life of many of us is by giving us that strength, that extra push to make us better women for tomorrow. Her passion for righteousness and for keeping traditional art alive has placed her in this list of Mujeres Luchadoras.

We are looking forward to more amazing art and poetry from this beautiful strong Mujer.

Much Love & Respect,

Monica Smiles Tobon
