Rest in Paint SERCH UTI STP RTDK RTH

RIP OG SERCH UTI, STP, RTDK, RTH

On Saturday, November 11, 2017 between 12am-7am. Our brother Eric Serch Ginsburg passed away in his sleep. As many of us knew he was epileptic since childhood; it is probable he had a massive seizure during his sleep.-UTI Crew. I pray his exit was painless and he is resting now for he was taken away too soon, leaving behind his son, brother, mother and the entire Los Angeles Graffiti Movement, his crews and hundreds of friends and fans of Serch All City King! It is difficult to sit here and write about a great friend, a genuine person that always found a way to make you crack up; even in the most unexpected places and moments, you had to have a special kind of humor to be able to hang with Serch. He was blunt, straight to the point, our boy had no filter but yet respectful, always kind to our children and families; he was loved and welcomed everywhere! Never too busy to hit your books, hook you up with his King Slaps; or bust a flow right on sight. It is hard to find OG’s keeping it 100% 24/7. This harsh reality has placed a financial necessity on his family and close friends, with the deepest sincerity I ask of you to please assist monetarily or any other way on this time of need.

Recap of El Velorio 2016!

Q’vole my beautiful Raza of Los Angeles! If you were at Antonio Pelayo’s Productions “El Velorio 2016” at Plaza de La Raza located at 3540 North Mission Rd. Los Angeles, Califas this past Saturday, November 5, 2016, then you are well aware of the tremendous festivity that went down that night. For those of you that missed out on the hottest event in Los Angeles, follow closely to the reventon I am about to show you; should have been there Fam!

This extravagant Day of the Dead inspired fiesta was hosted by stunning Melissa Santos with headline bands such as Metalachi, Mariachi Manchester, DJ Gazoo and Casa de Calacas, Ev Dub, El Carro Fantasma, and many others. It is inspiring to see so many talented individuals as well as the supporting public join together to celebrate our beautiful cultura de Dia de Los Muertos. A big shout out to Antonio Pelayo and Natily Gonzalez, the amazing duo behind every successful event in the past few years; thank you for always welcoming me.

I was actually at El Velorio last year and I must say that this year was the best El Velorio turnout, the energy was immense. Beautiful Catrinas y Catrinos everywhere I turned, really awesome to see how the public went all the way out to dress the part and celebrate the lives of our Loved ones con Mariachi, tequila y baile. This is exactly how this night is supposed to be celebrated; you know how we do it, puro pari! The night started late for me as I had to look around for a pinche parking space, no joke when they say to Uber or Lyft it #estacabron. But I walked in to El Velorio at its strongest force and although it was a bit late, the lines were still forming outside. This night was packed, to walk from one part of the venue to the other was an adventure itself, never a dull moment though with hot ladies and handsome caballeros dressed in full attire for the occasion.

First stop, find Natily to get this party started, as I had just came from another show she helped with Sur le Mur, this woman works hard. Finally made my way to the main stage and hang out with Natily and Melissa Santos, really down to earth lady (thanks for dancing with me) as always, the ultimate experience is backstage with all the performers and artists, as the energy and excitement to be there pretty much vibe off on all of us while they performed. I think the funniest part of the night was not realizing that my Press Pass fell off and so there I was walking thru the event randomly asking people if I can photograph them without being aware that my Press Pass had fallen off hours ago! OMG what were these people thinking? This chola asking to take photos of us, oh well why not!. A big thank you for still letting me do my thing!

After a few tequila shots, I finally worked my way thru the entire venue to snap shots of our gente, arte and vendors. I really enjoyed the Art exhibit, as the grand entrance was welcomed by the breathtaking masterpiece of Johnny Quintana. Great art work display as always could not be any more Brown and Proud of my fellow artists! On the other side of the gallery space was the dance floor hosted by my Chingona Friend Calipso and DJ Sloepoke, pretty dope to be welcomed by my new fond family from Cholos Try, got to boogie on the dance floor to some cumbias with the homey Scar and la Chulada de Mujer Irene Soto. Big ups to Big Tokes and Carlos. I always enjoy hanging out with you all at these events. Make me feel right at home chilling with the homeys; they are the real deal, no fronting. As the night progressed, ended up getting into a desmadre with Scar up on the main stage while Metalachi performed, the crowd was hyped to see him on stage, dancing and drinking and clowning with everybody was the highlight of my time at El Velorio. You all know how I feel about humble, down to Earth celebrities!

The best surprise of the night was to see my Mala Influencia Size OTR and my lady (well, his girlfriend) Blanca! Love you both to the moon and back. The night ended with some bomb tacos from Chicas Catering and I don’t say this much but their tacos al pastor were the best I have ever eaten, I really do not have anything else to argue on that. Thank you for feeding me at the end of a long night. You ladies rock!

Big shout out to all my peepz I got to hang out with tonight, Size OTR and Blanca, Roten SKA, Anuh, Payback, Jackie Boy and his beautiful wife, DJ Sloepoke, Calipso, Pauline, Mike Flores, DJ Gargamel, Isaac Pelayo and Dakota, Yasmin Ferrada, the one that holds my heart Elvira Zamora, CEO of Wardrobe Divas, Estela Hydes, Jose Joker, Jaime and Priscilla. And of course Antonio Pelayo and Natily Gonzalez.

It is always important to always remember where you come from and the people who have blessed you with so many opportunities, and that is the mutual respect that these artists, performers and Antonio express to the public. With that being said, Antonio, (and I speak for the community) Thank you for allowing us to have our own events and our very own art exhibits in our beautiful city of Angels. Please continue to represent our Cultura and Firme Style.

Please check out my Recap Gallery of El Velorio 2016!

Much Love & Respect,

It was hosted by our beautiful friend Calipso Aranda who kept the crown going throughout the entire event. For all of us that were there celebrating got many great surprises during the event, got to mingle with the funny “Cholos Try’ crew, and the ladies from the team as well. Always a pleasure to see them at events as they are so humble and really vibe off the public showing them love. And yes, we love you guys too; keep bringing to the audience our Firme Style and Cultura.

Much love to Elvira Zamora, CEO of Wardrobe Divas, the fashion show was amazing as always and really looking forward to the inspiration you brought for us ladies to rock this style for all the Day of the Dead events.

Shout to to Mike Flores, Anthony Fernandez, Mario “Scar” Ponce, Omar Big Tokes Camacho, the best Micheladas bartenders, thanks for healing my cruda realidad. Don Jose, Jose, Pauline Chris, Dj SloePoke, all the ladies I danced with, and Antonio Pelayo for bringing yet another dope event in our city of Angeles.

Much Love & Respect,

Recap of Tatuaje 2016!

On Saturday, July 30, 2016 Antonio Pelayo Productions really set the bar high in entertainment for Los Angeles. Celebrating his 2nd. Annual Tatuaje , there is no better way to say this to you but Lincoln Heights was on fire! If you missed Tatuaje let me take you there and enjoy the way us Angelinos like to celebrate our culture, tattoos, good music and Arte. This reventon took place at legendary Plaza de la Raza and we all know half of the proceeds fund programs for the Lincoln Heights community. Great cause to help our younger generation and to have it done so with style and Tatuajes and to be hosted by Patricia Lopez, Danny Trejo and Emcee Anthony Fernandez, what a night to remember!

First of, I would like to thank Antonio for always welcoming me with open arms to his fantastic events, Natily I love you too your community will always come out and support your hard work. So the night started by picking up my hot Birthday girl Pesky Oner, amazingly talented artist and friend. As we got to the venue which for once got there right when it started to have a better chance of taking photos of the art gallery which was curated by the legend himself; Freddy Negrete. As we walked to Plaza de la Raza we were welcomed by my dear friend Eriberto Oriol; an accomplished photographer whose iconic images are recognized worldwide. Along with the Bombitas, custom bikes and other low riders brought to by Bomb Magazine, one can say that the party was getting started there. The energy walking thru the venue was surreal; so many stunningly beautiful people everywhere we turned; I felt right at home.

The Sullen Angels were everywhere that night and as this new movement of tattoo culture acceptance by society has broken many stereotypes and critical judgment on appearance and one of the areas that has changed a lot is for modeling and women. It used to be such a taboo for a woman to be considered a model covered in tattoos and now we have embraced those differences in body shape norms and body appearance by admiring these women as beautiful as they are; tattoos or not, you ladies rock! There was just so much to do, from the Live tattoo competition, awesome gallery art exhibit, catching to take pictures with all the celebrities that were walking all over Tatuaje but where the party really was at the Main stage with our homeboy DJ Gargamel spinning for us throughout the night. I have never witnessed the public get upset every time they made him stop playing! Ah the sight to see, we love you Gargamel; you really brought the best Cumbias, old school funk and boy did my feet hurt by the end of the night. Hot sexy Lizette from Sullen Angels, pinche loko Joe Formula, and you know the presence of the SKAsters was there. As Roten, Phowl, Payback, Big Flaks, and other members came out all the way from San Diego. Always great to see familiar faces supporting the same people I do too. Thanks Payback for dancing the old funky beats with me! Yes, no shame in my game as I got caought slipping a few times on the dance floor with Og Overgold, thanks Nick for keeping up to La Sonora Dinamita.

It was a gathering of talented professionals in the Tattoo industry, artists, friends and community supporters so at no point did I feel out of my element, the vibes at Tatuaje were on that “ Puro Pari” tip. As the night progressed and the crowd was getting loose to the shots of Jimador and Jack Daniels, Johnny Ortiz, Mike Flores, Danny Trejo and all actors lokotes made their rounds around the event cheering on the crowds and the backstage lounge room was the place to be, as you got to hang out with all these talented musicians, artists and models and get to learn more about their upcoming projects. The bands performed in front of a public that was 100% down on the dance floor, as Corey Miller’s Powerflx5, LP3 & The Tragedy, The Blackouts and Gabba Gabba Heys ripped the stage all night. As I mentioned it before, it was a surreal experience but it got real when the one and only Efren Ramirez comes on stage and gets down on the harmonica. He spoke to us about his humbling beginnings in his very own stomping grounds of Lincoln Heights and as you might have guessed it, yes he said it, “Vote For Pedro”!

Tatuaje also held their very first Pachuca contest and it was a hit, as Wardrobe Divas finalized the touch of style with their very own inspired Pachuca/o Fashion Shows presented the Men’s look by El Pachuco Zoot Suit, flowers by Cute by Bupi and hosted by Leslye Rox. Great job Elvira, you are one Xingona Mujer. Congrats to reservoir Tattoo Studio for winning the Tattoo Competition and to Freddy Negrete and Antonio for receiving awards and recognitions from the Museo Casa Leon Trotsky in Mexico City and La Casa del Tatuaje. See, you have to really analyze and appreciate what is going on here with every event Antonio Pelayo produces, to understand that yes, these are events that will give you the ultimate experience and have a great time. But what he really is saying, is that us as a Raza, as a Cultura, we are a community founding our own Galas, our own cultural events and the support and response is as astounding as the hard work Antonio and his entire family and team sacrifices for us all. With that being said, I just want to give a big shout out with all my love and respect to Antonio Pelayo, his family, Natily Gonzalez, Elvira from Wardrobe Divas, Lea Monique, Edwin from Cold Fire Co. My boy DJ. Gargamel, Eriberto Oriol, Anuh and Yasmin Ferrada, photographer Jenny Jen, Drew, Monalisa, Isaac Pelayo, OG Overgold, the SKA Crew and of course my amiga Pesky Oner . Thank you for reminding me once again how very lucky we are to be part of this exclusive Artistic Raza Unida Community! Till next year and remember; keep creating, keep showing your support and most importantly; Be Proud to be from Los Angeles.

Much Love & Respect

Monica Smiles Tobon

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE

Antonio Pelayo presents TATUAJE 2016 2nd Annual Tattoo Culture Tribute Soiree Unites 100+ Tattoo Artists, Latin Celebrities, Painters and Musicians to Raise Money For the Arts.

The 2nd annual Tatuaje festival celebrating the distinct tattoo culture of Los Angeles will return Saturday, July 30 at Plaza de la Raza, a kids arts education nonprofit that will be benefitting from proceeds from the event. Hosts Danny Trejo (Machette) and Patricia Lopez (Mex 2 the Max), and emcee Anthony Fernandez will guide partygoers through the night, featuring over 100 top tattoo artists, live painting, a live tattoo competition, an art exhibit by curator Freddy Negrete, music by DJ Gargamel & DJ ChrisRox, band performances by LP3 & The Tragedy, Corey Miller’s Powerflex5, The BlackOuts and Gabbas, and a fashion show by Wardrobe Divas.

Tatuaje 2016 is the secod production of the event by Antonio Pelayo, who will be donating a portion of the proceeds to Plaza de la Raza, a nonprofit that provides afterschool arts education and mentorship programs to children on the eastside of Los Angeles. “The main reason I produce Tatuaje and events like this is so I can raise funds for organizations that teach kids art,” Pelayo says. “Drawing was how I dealt with things growing up, but I had to learn how to do it on my own. What I love about Plaza de la Raza is that these skills and techniques are taught by artists who make a living from their work—who have mastered their craft. That kind of mentorship can’t be taken for granted.” The tattoo is one of the oldest art forms in the world, with the ink on skin phenomenon present in nearly every major civilization throughout history. Tatuaje 2016 is a tribute to the unique tattoo culture of Los Angeles, and its multiheritage meltingpot. The event will take place on Saturday, July 30 from 7pm to 1am at the Plaza de la Raza headquarters, located at 3540 N. Mission Road, Los Angeles, CA 90031. To purchase tickets, visit http://www.tatuaje2016.eventbrite.com.
