This weekend in Los Angeles SUR le MUR presents an amazing group of artists and photographers joining in a silent auction which will be supporting A Sense of Home for the Foster Youth of Los Angeles nonprofit. What a great way to support our city and those that are trying to transition from the youth foster systems on becoming self sufficient and independent young adults.
This is a Free event and you can join this great cause throughout the weekend! And you know I will be there to support and document another life changing event. I love my city; see you all there.

Sur le Mur L.A. is pleased to présent, Where Street Meets Chic, an eclectic and dynamic group show celebrating LA’s unique fine artists, street artists, and photographers. Sur le Mur (on the wall) utilizes “ART” to raise awareness and support various charities helping children and youth of Southern California. We have partnered up with A Sense of Home to create a spectacular three day event. We are delighted to announce an incredible lineup of gifted artists and group of creatives, in multiple genres, who are giving back to the community by using their paint brushes, cameras, charcoal, and spray cans. There will be a piece of art to resonate with everyone who enters the gallery and some controversial pieces as well. A comprehensive ensemble of artists on exhibit, who are all geniuses in their own right. Pulitzer Prize winning photographer, Nick Ut and his colleague, Raul Roa, who call themselves the “Lunartics” will be presenting their spectacular lunar images, for the first time, using a unique technique developed over the past 3 years. This is the first opportunity to purchase Mr. Ut’s outstanding work following fifty years of photojournalism. BAFTA LA’s artist in residence, Lincoln Townley, whose artworks are collected all over the world, is generously donating portraits of Keanu Reeves and Robert Downey Jr. Fellow London based artist, Banksy, who continues to leave his mark on the streets of L.A. is on display as well. LACMA artist, Elwood T. Risk, Mear One, WRDSMTH, I’m Huge, and Plastic Jesus, known as the “LA Banksy” are bringing their street art and murals indoors. Jerry Garcia’s wife, Manasha Garcia, has graciously donated 3 rare pieces for auction. Other noted artists exhibiting their work include; Michael Gomez-Burton who has exhibited his work at the Pentagon, Geoff Melville, Padhia Avocado, and a SOHO Design House luxury art rug by the artists Cyrcle. Fine artists; Ruth Grace Jervis, Wendy McCauley, Wanda Decca, Rafael, and Gianna Vargas. Photographers who give you a view through their lens include; Kristian Schmidt, Per Bernal, and Glenn David. Silent auction on selected pieces with a 100% of proceeds going to A Sense of Home as well as a percentage of all art sales during the 3 day affair. surlemur.com Grateful for her opportunity to combine artists and non-profit organizations, Megan Phillips has volunteered her time and talents with various non-profits, including organizations for at risk children and hospitalized children. A portion of all sales from the Sur le Mur art exhibit will be donated to A Sense of Home. Megan Phillips is a Los Angeles-based therapist. She runs Sur le Mur, an LA Art Curation, Consultation, and Management House bringing artists and charities together for very worthy causes. Ms. Phillips volunteers with various hospitals, implementing Art Therapy, for Children and other local non-profit organizations. A Sense of Home® (ASOH) is a LA-based, nonprofit organization designed to transform the lives of under-served, at-risk foster youth who “age out” of the foster care system. ASOH brings together volunteers to serve as a family would when a child sets up their first home. By gathering donated furniture the volunteers create a sense of home for foster youth in their first permanent living space giving them dignity, self-worth & pride. ASOH intervenes when youth would be otherwise-unassisted in transitioning to independent life and aged-out youth typically fall off the radar and move towards homelessness, incarceration, joblessness, mental health or substance abuse problems. In the process, the ASOH community acts as extended family to the transitioing youth, providing practical and emotional support, and, when possible, professional connections they might not otherwise have. http://asenseofhome.org/
